Size Guide
Every Bond Street rug is made to order in six standard sizes, and custom sizes are available on request. Use this guide to choose the right size for your room, then order a 12" x 12" sample for $25 to see the color and texture in your space.
Standard sizes

Handmade rugs can vary slightly from their stated size, typically within 2 to 3 percent.
Living rooms
- Leave 12 to 18 inches of floor between the rug and the walls in most rooms, and at least 8 inches in small rooms.
- At a minimum, the front legs of the sofa and chairs should sit on the rug so the seating reads as one group.
- For a more generous look, choose a rug large enough for all furniture legs to sit on it.
- The rug should be wider than the sofa, ideally by 6 to 12 inches on each side.
Dining rooms
- Add 24 to 36 inches to each side of the table so chairs stay on the rug when pulled out.
- A 42 to 48 inch round or square table for four usually needs an 8' x 10'. A 6 to 8 person table usually needs a 9' x 12' or 10' x 14'.
- Flatweaves and low, dense pile are easiest under dining chairs.
Bedrooms
- Queen bed: an 8' x 10' placed under the lower two-thirds of the bed.
- King bed: a 9' x 12', or a 10' x 14' for a larger room.
- Aim for 18 to 24 inches of rug on each side of the bed so your first step in the morning lands on it.
How to measure
- Measure the room and note doors, vents and fireplace hearths.
- Mark the rug's outline on the floor with painter's tape and live with it for a day.
- Check that doors can swing clear, especially over deeper pile.
