FAQ

Answers to the questions we hear most. Anything else, email hello@bondstreetrugs.com.

Where are Bond Street rugs made?

Every rug is made entirely by hand in Bhadohi, India, the country's historic center of rug weaving. Bond Street is co-owned with partners based in Bhadohi, and our rugs are designed in Atlanta by Kevin Francis O'Gara.

What do the article numbers mean?

The hundreds digit is the main fiber (200 merino, 300 linen, 400 alpaca, 500 silk, 600 cashmere), the tens digit is the construction (10s flatweave and handwoven, 20s hand-loomed, 30s hand-looped, 40s hand-knotted) and the last digit is the design. Our Craft & Materials page explains more.

Is your silk real silk?

Yes. All of our silk is real silk. We never use viscose, rayon or "bamboo silk."

How long does it take to receive my rug?

Each rug is made to order. Flatweave, handwoven, hand-loomed and hand-looped rugs have a lead time of 6 to 8 weeks. Hand-knotted rugs have a lead time of 12 to 16 weeks. Your estimated delivery window is confirmed by email after you order.

Can I order a sample?

Yes. A 12" x 12" sample of any design is $25. Choose "12" x 12" Sample" in the size menu on the product page. Samples are final sale.

Do you make custom sizes or colors?

Yes. Every design can be made in custom dimensions, including runners, and most can be made in custom colorways. Email hello@bondstreetrugs.com with your size and the article number for a quote.

Can I return or exchange a rug?

Because every rug is made to order, all sales are final and we do not accept returns or exchanges. If your rug arrives damaged, email us with photos within 14 days of delivery and we will make it right. See our Refund Policy for details.

Do you offer trade pricing?

Yes. Interior designers, architects and other design professionals receive trade pricing, samples and custom colorways. Email hello@bondstreetrugs.com to open a trade account.

What is the difference between hand-knotted and hand-loomed?

A hand-knotted rug is made by tying each knot by hand, which allows carved pile, mixed fibers and organic patterns. A hand-loomed rug has its pile worked in by hand on a loom, giving a dense, even surface. Both are made entirely by hand.

Will my rug shed?

New wool, alpaca and cashmere pile rugs shed loose fibers for the first few months. This is normal and slows with regular vacuuming. See our Care Guide.

Do I need a rug pad?

We recommend one for every rug. A good pad keeps the rug in place, protects your floor and extends the life of the rug.

How do I choose the right size?

Our Size Guide covers living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms. When in doubt, go larger: a rug that is too small is the most common mistake.

Do you ship outside the United States?

Yes, on request. Email hello@bondstreetrugs.com before ordering for delivery outside the U.S. See our Shipping Policy.
